I took the Alfresco Certified Engineer exam back on June
12. I didn’t study at all for the exam
thinking that after working with Alfresco for the past 5+ years I should be
able to ace it. Well I didn’t ace the
exam but I did pass.
After taking the exam I went over the blue print again. The blue print gives a good outline of the
exam. It is important to note that you
need to do well on all parts of the exam in order to pass because of the
weighting.
If you are new to Alfresco I recommend taking a few of the
Alfresco courses, and/or reading the Alfresco documentation and one or two of
the Alfresco books that are out.
I am planning on taking the Alfresco Certified Administrator
exam sometime before the end of the summer.
Just have to map out the time.
Hi Barret
ReplyDeleteI'm from Brazil. I want taking the ACA and after ACE. I would like some tips more specified.
For the ACA I am just studying the Alfresco Enterprise Administrators Guide. That looks like it should cover most aspects of the ACA exam. I am planning on taking that test the end of this month.
ReplyDeleteFor the ACE you really need to have hands on experience with customizing both alfresco and share. Below is information from the blueprint. If you want to pass you need to implement each of the following on Alfresco. I have been developing on top of Alfresco for over five years so I have had an opportunity to do each of these areas.
-Understand the Alfresco architecture and Repository
-Understand, design and create content models and custom object types and aspects
-Package and deploy Alfresco extensions and modules
-Develop extensions for the Alfresco Explorer Web Client
-Develop applications and Services using the Alfresco APIs (Foundation Services, JCR, Web
Services)
-Understand, define, customize and deploy Advance Workflows and Task Models
-Understand how workflows interact with content
-Connect to external applications using Web Services and protocols like SOAP & CMIS
You have to answer 80 questions in 60 minutes so if you don't know the answer you can use the usual strategies eliminate some of the answers and make an educated guess.
I went through the exam one time pretty fast and had about 25 minutes to go back and go after the tricky questions.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
I will post my findings after I take the ACA exam later this month.
